Overconfident drivers are a danger

As many as 69% of drivers admitted to breaking the law on the road through overconfidence or complacency according to a survey by the charity Brake and insurance company Direct Line.

99% of those surveyed felt that they were relatively safe drivers.

Vicki Wright, expert personal injury lawyer at Swain & Co Solicitors, says, “Overconfident drivers can be a danger on our roads.”

The survey also revealed that 35% of respondents said they broke the laws because they believed they could handle the situation, while 33% admitted that they did not pay enough attention while behind the wheel.

Vicki adds, “This is a scary revelation as breaking the traffic laws and not paying attention at the wheel are major causes of road traffic accidents that have the potential to change and even destroy people’s lives.”
