A roofer was fined by the Health and Safety Executive for using a ladder balanced on the roof of his van whilst painting a shop facade in Southampton.
Mr Nicolls was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay £666 in costs after pleading guilty to parking his van over a bus stop on a busy road and failing to erect safe scaffolding.
Maintenance 24-7 Ltd who sub-contracted the work to Nicholls’s firm, also admitted safety breaches and were fined £10,000 with £784 costs.
Victoria Silsbury, Legal Clerk says, “This could easily have led to very serious injuries, not only to Mr Nicholls, but also passers-by. It is vital that individuals and companies comply with safety policies that are put in place to protect people and ensure this does not happen again”.
If you have suffered an injury that was not your fault, either in a road traffic accident, an accident at work or from a trip or fall, you could be entitled to compensation.
